As busy finals and AP tests season draws to a close, many students are looking forward to a restful summer free from academic commitments. But before you dust off your xbox and turn off your mind, consider these top six reasons why you should use the summer to prepare for your SAT’s or ACT’s.
1. No school: without all your academic classes bogging you down with work and stress, you can really focus on your SAT preparation.
2. Keep your mind fresh: by continuing to work and think critically over the summer, you will continue to challenge your mind to grow, helping not only your fall SAT scores, but your academic career as well.
3. No stop gap measures: by taking the time to really work on your prep without any distractions, you can get to the root of your testing issues, instead of just placing a quick band-aid over issues like timing, test anxiety, small errors, misreading and more.
4. Full length practice tests: one of the most important parts of any prep program is taking full length practice tests. But giving up a rare weekend day during the school year can be tough. Use the extra time summer offers to take plenty of practice tests.
5. Doesn't interfere with vacation: Online tutoring can happen anywhere at any time. So you don’t have to stop when you travel!
6. You can test in August or September. If you spend the summer prepping, you can get ready to take either the SAT offered at the end of August or the ACT offered at the beginning of September.
